Diving in for Answers on Women’s Health

I’m excited to take on The Cold Plunge Challenge to highlight the critical need for women’s health research.

Health gaps disproportionately affect women, especially later in life, where underfunding leaves critical questions about menopause and aging unanswered. From menopause to chronic pain and heart health, too many issues remain misunderstood. It’s time for answers.

By taking this plunge, I’m supporting Sinai Health’s mission to help women get the answers they deserve - advancing research that improves care and health outcomes now and for the future.

Friday 3rd Apr

As promised - if I surpassed $1000 in donations I would do 3 plunges. Thus, I completed my 3rd & Final Plunge today. A balmy 18°C & sunny in Bobcaygeon ON. Water temperature was about 4°C. I can't say thank you enough to everyone who donated towards this fundraiser for Womens Health Research. I'm no stranger to cold water & was ecstatic to take on this challenge. Same time next year?

Almost ready to roll! The ice is just about out! I am hoping to complete my 3rd & Final Cold Plunge, for Womens Health Research, this Easter weekend🐰. Thank you all for your support!

Thursday 19th Mar

The lake is slowly but surely starting to break open. What a glorious sight to see. Anticipation is building for my final plunge, which is likely be the coldest. Hoping to plunge by the end of March. I'm ready!

Plunge # 2

Sunday 8th Mar

My 2nd plunge took place March 8th - International Women's Day in my bathtub. I added 2 bags of ice and got the water temp to about 6°C. It was a cold 2 minutes, but invigorating. And so was the warm shower that followed.

Sunday 8th Mar

My first plunge was March 7th at a Cold Plunge Facility in Peterborough ON. I'm on the taller side so the fact that this tub was so big really enhanced the experience. Temperature was about 10°C. This facility had a hot plunge tub, and a sauna, I rotated several times between all 3 for about 1 hour. Definitely would do it again.

Wednesday 4th Mar

Considering I have tripled my original fundraising goal, I've decided to do THREE cold plunges:

One will take place this Saturday(March 7) at a cold plunge facility just outside of town.

The 2nd cold plunge will take place International Women's Day, Sunday March 8th, from my bathtub. (Sturgeon lake is still very frozen)

And IF I reach $1,000 in donations I will do a third plunge at the end of March (or early April) whenever the lake opens up.
