Honoring my Mom, my sister and all the fierce and courageous women I love

I’m excited to take on The Cold Plunge Challenge to highlight the critical need for women’s health research.  

Health gaps disproportionately affect women, especially later in life, where underfunding leaves critical questions about menopause and aging unanswered. From menopause to chronic pain and heart health, too many issues remain misunderstood. It’s time for answers.  

By taking this plunge, I’m supporting Sinai Health’s mission to help women get the answers they deserve - advancing research that improves care and health outcomes now and for the future. 

Join me in supporting this important cause with a donation. Together, we can support research that transforms care for women today and generations to come. 

My beautiful Mom passed away from breast cancer 25 years ago this month. She battled it courageously for ten years. 

My beautiful younger sister was diagnosed a few years ago. She’s currently doing well and remains strong and healthy.

Breast cancer has touched my family in too many ways.  My Mom, my sister, my grandmother, my aunt, my cousins…and my friends…

Our beautiful Mom left us 25 years ago on a cold, snowy day in Maryland. Giant snowflakes fell softly from the sky, dancing gracefully to the ground, mimicking my Mom’s life fading away. 

Twenty five years is a long time but also not really. I still remember the feel of her hugs, her hands, the sound of her voice. She was always the epitome of elegance and grace.

They say time heals all wounds. They’re right. But time doesn’t make us forget. It just teaches us to appreciate what we have.

She’d be incredibly proud of me and my three sisters and of her three grandchildren. I can just picture her surrounded by them. She would have loved the adults they now are.

Missing you, Mom - my first art teacher, my inspiration. 💛 💛 💛
