FAQs
How do I take part in The Cold Plunge Challenge?
By registering to take part of this challenge, you choose how you want to fundraise for women's health. We wanted to make this challenge accessible for everyone to get creative and have fun with how they want to fundraise. Here are some challenge fundraising ideas:
COLD PLUNGE ON YOUR OWN
- Can be at a spa, local gym or if you have a cold plunge at home
- Take it to the lake and organize your own polar plunge lake swim.
- Do it yourself or encourage others to join you and make a team fundraising page!
- Set up a fundraising page and have your friends or family support your challenge with a donation
- Bring some facts into your plunge:
- Can you do a 97 second cold plunge to represent the fact women were excluded from clinical research until 1997?
- Can you recruit 5 friends to rally with you to represent the fact women are 50 per cent more likely than men to be misdiagnosed after a heart attack.
- Try to plunge 7 days in a row to represent the fact that 70 per cent of patients with "medically unexplained symptoms" are women
- We will be set up in person at the lake on Saturday October 18 for you to join others in the community who are rallying for women's health. Event details will be confirmed with participants after you complete registration!
Do I have to do The Cold Plunge Challenge myself or can I join with others?
The Cold Plunge Challenge is designed for you to fundraise however and wherever you want!
This could mean taking on the challenge solo and setting up your own fundraising page. By leading the charge, you will hopefully encourage many others to get involved and take on their own Challenge!
Want to make a difference for women's health with a group? As part of the sign up, you can create a team page and invite others to sign up and fundraise with you.
- Do a fundraising challenge among your friends or family.
- Get your partner, spouse or significant other to take on the challenge with you!
- Take your fundraising efforts to the workplace! Team up with your colleagues for a memorable team building experience! Rent a cold plunge facility for an afternoon, get cold plunge passes for your team or take it to the lake altogether for a cold plunge. Encourage participants to set a personal fundraising goal and show your workplace commitment to women's health.
How can I encourage donations to my fundraiser?
Share your fundraising page loud and proud! By taking this challenge you're making a big difference to support women's health research and people should know about it! We are sure you will be very surprised to see how many people support your efforts.
Once your fundraising page is set up you can share your page out directly making it very easy for friends and family to make a donation and help you achieve your fundraising goals. Check out our toolkit linked at the top of this page for everything you need to share out on your channels and templates on how to spread the message you're taking this on.
Can I do a cold plunge in late fall or winter?
Absolutely! Cold plunges can be done in the winter, and many people enjoy the invigorating benefits of cold water therapy during this season. However, it's essential to prioritize safety first. Before jumping in, be sure you're aware of your comfort level with cold temperatures. If you're new to cold plunging or prefer a more controlled environment, consider trying it at a cold plunge facility or an indoor pool. These spaces often offer a safe, monitored way to experience the cold plunge while still reaping the rewards.
Listen to your body, start slow, and always have a warm-up plan afterward to keep your circulation steady. Most importantly, have fun and enjoy the experience, but never push yourself beyond your limits!
