I’m taking on the Hot and Bothered Challenge to take action for women’s health
I’m fundraising to help Sinai Health build a world-leading Centre for Mature Women’s Health.
Women spend 50% of their lives in perimenopause and menopause. By 2025 it is expected that over 1 billion people around the world will be experiencing menopause. Yet, there remains a lack of acceptance, understanding, and awareness surrounding symptoms. As a result, women delay seeking the care that they need; only 1 in 3 women report speaking about menopause with their provider. Beyond impacting personal health, this has a trickle down effect on a woman’s relationships, the workplace, and the economy as a whole.
The Centre for Mature Women’s Health will be the most comprehensive centre of its kind in the world, designed to address the full spectrum of health challenges that women face as they age.
I’ve decided to take on The Hot and Bothered Challenge and take cold plunges in Lake Ontario to make my splash towards women’s health equity. While I challenge myself to cool off, I would love if you can help heat up my efforts by donating what you can!
