Our first child and precious daughter, Arden Janina, was born prematurely on July 15, 2023. After a courageous fight, our daughter passed away on day 5 of life in our loving arms. She had the spirit and strength of a warrior despite her size and brought us so much joy and love. To honour her, we have established the Arden Janina Fund For The Centre of Excellence in Obstetrical Ultrasound (CEOU). Arden was lucky enough to have spent many times there in utero while I worked as a radiologist at CEOU, providing quality care and ultrasound imaging to expectant parents within Ontario. Arden also had her fair share of her own imaging at CEOU, saying hello to many of the CEOU ultrasound technologists, contributing radiologists and maternal fetal medicine specialists.
Despite being the highest tertiary obstetrical centre in Canada, the CEOU ultrasound machines have unfortunately become severely out-of-date, often have broken components and lack certain functions to better aid in prenatal diagnosis. Prenatal diagnosis is a key to provide parents with the most amount of information as possible. As such, the Arden Janina Fund For The Centre of Excellence in Obstetrical Ultrasound has been established to provide financial support for equipment replacement.
