Our goal is to raise $30,000 in support of the Rogers Hixon Ontario Human Milk Bank, part of Sinai Health, which provides pasteurized donor breastmilk to NICUs across Ontario and Atlantic Canada.
For medically fragile preemies, breastmilk isn’t just food — it’s medicine. It provides immune-boosting benefits and helps protect preemies' developing digestive systems from life-threatening gut diseases. Not all families are able to provide a full milk supply, especially when facing challenges like delayed milk production, medical complications, or unable to breastfeed right away due to separation from babies transferred to high-acuity NICUs in hospitals far from home.
Funds from this hike will support the Milk Bank’s new pilot outpatient milk project, which provides pasterurized donor milk directly to NICU families during the critical transition home. This initiative ensures that vulnerable babies continue to receive the nourishment they need, even after leaving the hospital.
