I’m taking the Hot and Bothered Challenge to take action for women’s health
I’m determined to make some noise around women’s health care - or the lack of attention it has received my whole life. I first began having pelvic pain at 15, was diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis at 20, have had 4 surgeries, and most recently a complete hysterectomy…which resulted in immediate menopause. There is so little data about menopause itself let alone menopause with endometriosis that informed care is almost impossible. The doctors at Mount Sinai have been so supportive and as helpful as possible without sufficient data and research directing treatment options. But with increased funding, and a centre specifically for mature women, we can start to change this long overdue conversation and increase access to public health services. So let’s get loud, raise some money, and do this! Brrrr!
