In Loving Memory
The Walk for David Luca was created in loving memory of our beautiful son, David Luca Sperduti.
During my pregnancy, David Luca was diagnosed with a severe Grade IV intraventricular hemorrhage, with a ruptured fetal arteriovenous malformation (AVM) believed to be the underlying cause. He was born on April 29, 2026, at 21 weeks and 4 days.
David Luca lived for almost two precious hours. During that time, we were fortunate enough to hold him, sing to him, see his tiny feet kick, and feel his tiny hands wrap around our fingers. His grandparents and his aunt and uncle were also able to meet him and surround him with love. He filled the delivery room with an extraordinary kind of magic, and although his time with us was heartbreakingly brief, the love he brought into our lives will last forever.
On September 27, 2026, our family and friends will come together for the inaugural Walk for David Luca. We will walk in his memory and raise funds in support of fetal medicine research at Mount Sinai, helping advance research and care for babies and families facing rare and serious fetal conditions.
If you would like to honour David Luca with us, we would be deeply grateful for any contribution made in his memory.
Our hope is for the Walk for David Luca to become an annual tradition and a lasting part of our little boy's legacy. Through David Luca's walk, we hope that the love he brought into this world can help create greater understanding, better answers, and hope for other babies and their families.
Every step we take is for David Luca.
We carry him with every step. 💙
With love,
Melanie & David
