FAQs
How do I take part in The Cold Plunge Challenge?
By registering to take part of this challenge, you choose how you want to get involved and fundraise for women's health. Please note for this challenge all participants must be 18+. Have fun and get creative with it! Here are some challenge and fundraising ideas:
COLD PLUNGE ON YOUR OWN
- Can be at a spa, local gym or if you have a cold plunge at home (even a blow up kiddie pool!)
- Take it to the lake and organize your own polar plunge lake swim.
- Do it yourself or encourage others to join you and make a team fundraising page!
- Have your friends or family support your challenge with a donation for the amount of seconds or minutes you plan to plunge for
- Bring some facts into your plunge:
- Can you do a 97 second cold plunge to represent the fact women were excluded from clinical research until 1997?
- Try to plunge 7 days in a row to represent the fact that 70 per cent of age-related diseases are influenced by menopause.
PLUNGE WITH US
- We will be set up in person on Sunday October 18 at Woodbine Beach for you to join others in the community who are rallying for women's health. Event timing and details will be confirmed with registered participants closer to event date!
Do I have to do The Cold Plunge Challenge myself or can I join with others?
The Cold Plunge Challenge is designed for you to take on however (and with whoever) you want!
You can take on the Challenge solo by setting up your own fundraising page, or join forces with friends, family, colleagues or your community by creating a team page and inviting others to fundraise and take the plunge with you.
Looking for inspiration? You could:
- Challenge your friends or family to a fundraising competition.
- Take the plunge with your partner, spouse or significant other.
- Team up with colleagues for a memorable workplace experience. Rent a cold plunge facility, get cold plunge passes for your team or take the plunge together at the lake.
What if I can’t take the cold plunge on October 18?
No problem at all! While we’re rallying together on World Menopause Day (October 18), you’re welcome to take your plunge anytime that week - or even later in the month.
Whether it’s solo, with friends, or at another event, your effort still helps raise awareness and impactful funds for women’s health research. Just be sure to share your plunge and fundraising efforts online to keep the momentum going!
How can I encourage donations to my fundraiser?
Share your fundraiser and inspire support! Let people know why you’re taking on the Cold Plunge Challenge and how their donations can make a difference for women’s health.
A few ways to encourage donations:
- Think about who in your network you can reach out to - friends, family, colleagues and your community. Start by sending them a personal message!
- Tell people why you’re taking on the Challenge and what it means to you.
- Include a direct link to your fundraising page to make donating easy.
- Use our fundraising toolkit at the top of this page for social media content, templates and tips to help spread the word.
Every share can help you get closer to your fundraising goal!
This is my first cold plunge. Anything I should know of?
Many people enjoy the invigorating benefits of cold water therapy. However, it's essential to prioritize safety first. Before getting in, be sure you're aware of your comfort level with cold temperatures. If you're new to cold plunging and prefer a more controlled environment, consider trying it at a cold plunge facility or an indoor pool. These spaces often offer a safe, monitored way to experience the cold plunge while still reaping the rewards.
Please do not participate in the plunge if you have any of the following: High/Low Blood Pressure, Cardiovascular Conditions, Heart Conditions, Pregnancy, experiencing burnout or any other doubts about your health.
Listen to your body, start with a proper warm up, start slow, and always have a warm-up plan afterward to keep your circulation steady. Most importantly, have fun and enjoy the experience, but never push yourself beyond your limits!
