We created this page to honour the memory of Arun Sane and the remarkable life he lived. In his name, we invite you to support Sinai Health in providing exceptional patient care, advancing vital research, and making a lasting difference in the lives of others.

Sinai Health held special meaning for Arun and his family. Both of his grandchildren were born with the support of its specialized pregnancy program, and Arun spent his final days receiving compassionate palliative care at Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital. Supporting Sinai Health is a meaningful way to celebrate his life and help extend that same care to other families in times of joy and pain.

It is with profound sadness that Arun's family announces his peaceful passing on October 5, 2026, at 1:12 p.m., at the age of 82. A visionary architect, devoted family man, and cherished friend, Arun leaves a lasting legacy in Canada's architectural landscape and in the hearts of all who knew him.

Arun was the deeply loved husband of Kishori (Kay) Sane, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, partnership, and treasured memories. He was a proud and devoted father to his son, Anik; a loving father-in-law to Anisha; and a cherished grandfather to Rohan and Nikita. Becoming a grandfather brought him immeasurable joy, and he leaves them a legacy of warmth, wisdom, and love.

Arun's distinguished career spanned decades and reflected his deep commitment to sustainable engineering, educational environments, and community-centred spaces. His celebrated contributions include the SkyDome Hotel, as part of the RAN Consortium; the Richard J. Renaud Science Complex at Concordia University; the Seymour Schulich Building at York University's Schulich School of Business; the Toronto Island Public and Natural Science School; and pioneering green technologies at Fleming College's Peterborough and Lindsay campuses. His forward-thinking work earned national recognition, including the National Low Energy Building Design Award in 1980.

Rest in peace, Arun. Your vision lives on in our skyline, in your family, and in the memories of all whose lives you touched.
